Impact of Privilege: Voice of the Sangha will feature 30-second self-made videos stitched together, initially for presentation at:
International Western Dharma Teachers gathering – June 1-5
Next Generation National Dharma Teachers conference – June 6-10
BuddhaFest festival – June 13th – June 15th (presentation date tbd)
Your individual experiences will be shared with the some of the nation’s most prominent Dharma Teachers.
The aim is to bring unique voices of Buddhist practitioners into the conversation about the impact that the lack of awareness of dominant culture privilege has upon current students and hopeful practitioners of varying Buddhist sanghas (communities), groups and institutions. Specifically, we want to hear a broad spectrum of individual practitioners, in their own words.
We aim to include practitioners of all varieties, different:
- buddhist lineages
- backgrounds
- racial and ethnic identities
- genders reflections
- sexual preferences
- spiritual traditions
- energetic vibes…
About the Project
This video is being produced by the Mandala Project: widening the circle of sangha for all.
the Mandala Project is being organized as an evolutionary national body to disseminate information and support education for American sanghas on a range of areas of historic marginalization and intersectionality, including race, class, sexual and gender orientation. It intends to be highly proactive in providing fundamental information resources and best practices towards being in mutual relationship with practitioners in and across these categories, securing the future of dharma practice for all.
the Mandala Project held it’s inaugural meeting August 4-5th with the generous support of the Garrison Institute, resulting in a 9-person steering committee of teachers and practitioners from a variety of different lineage, race, ethnic, class, gender and sexual orientation backgrounds.
